Great American Seafood cook-off-whats your favorite seafood recipe?

Seafood, hmmm I love seafood so much, well I think that will not come as a surprise anymore for I grew up in an island where seafood is very accessible, its local and so fresh. I even remember going to the market early Saturday morning to savor the early fresh catch of the day, and boy oh boy they just looked so beautiful and very much alive. I have a lot of favorite seafood recipe which I wont mention names anymore for I don’t want to guys to go hungry while reading my entry. But I think my favorite of all is what we call Kangreho con Gata (Kangreho means crab, Gata means coconut milk) Its so delicious and mouth watering, crab is cooked in a creamy thick coconut sauce with some other ingredients like, onions, garlic, tomato sauce, cilantro, bay leaves, cumin, ginger and lemon grass. Or sometimes I wanted to give it a little bit of kick to spice it up so I added a little bit of cayenne seasoning. Boy, doesn’t this sound delicious already ha? And you know what, I think this may be a good contender for a Cook off, and speaking of Cook off, the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board (LSPMB) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association)will present the Fifth Annual Great American Seafood Cook offon Aug 2-3 at the New Orleans Memorial Convention Center within the Louisiana Foodservice EXPO and the Gulf Coast Seafood Pavilion. So what do you think about that? Sounds exciting, well what I like and excited about this Great American Seafood cook-off is that, we will learn and discover different seafood recipe, chef’s own ways and techniques on how to cook and create different mouthwatering seafood recipe. So how about you guys, what’s your favorite seafood recipe? I would love to hear from your story too.

Just worried, but he's fine

I called the office of my son’s pediatrician yesterday morning, worried about my son’s left eyelid. It seems red to me and since he’s been itching it the worst it gets and there seems to be a circle on the inner circle of his eyelid. I observed it for two days, but just worried it might get worst. So after calling his pediatrician’s office, nurse said that I should bring him in so that they will be able to examine his eyelid very well. So I brought him in yesterday to his pediatrician in Reno, office seems to be pretty busy, our appointment is at 3:30 pm that afternoon but we were able to get in at 3:50pm already and he has seen by his pediatrician at 4:10pm, wow! That was a long wait, but I’m just glad they were able to squeeze us in for that day. So after the check-up, his pedia said that his eyes is fine and that there’s really nothing to worry, I just have to apply a hot compress to his eyes at least 4times a day and hope that will help ease the situtaion. So I’m just glad that there’s really nothing to worry. At least now, we can say that his fine and we wound keep worrying about it.

Got back home safe and sound

Hi guys, so we finally made it to Idaho and we just got back last night. It was just an overnight trip we left Friday around noon because we still have to pick up the rental car in Reno airport that morning and drove to Idaho for 7hours. When we arrived in Idaho at my sister in law’s house hubby transfer all our stuff from the rental car to the other car for they wanted to return the rental car that very same night. The reason for this is that, The airport in Twin Falls Idaho will be having an air show the following day which is Saturday and the place will be mob with people and it will be hard for us to return the rental that day so my sister in law doesn’t want to put us on that situation so might as well returned it that Friday. Good thing we did because according to Sam (my sister in law’s grand daughter) that the place was pack with people, though they did enjoy the air show saw the angels and stuff like that but they got sun burn. Opps that’s not good.. so to you guys who wants to spend some time out doors don’t forget to put your lotions..

Another busy friday...

Well as expected, last Friday wasn’t any difference with our weekly routine. Guys from the local company that we hired to install our water softener was here that Friday morning, though they were just a little bit late than the expected time. But at least they were able to make it. According to hubby they were here pretty much the whole day, and got their job done. So far were happy with result. But anyway you might be wondering how come I didn’t know what time they finished the job, it’s because i was at the cemetery with a friend attending burial. That was my first time to ever attend a veteran’s burial (gun salute and stuff like that) , although my grand father few years ago had the same service, but didn’t make it on his funeral for some reason.

Today was a fun day at the Laura Park in Fallon Nevada, for two of my good friend celebrated their birthday. We had so much fun together and it was just nice to have it in the park for a change in ambiance. Good food, great people what more can you ask for? Anyway To Jocelyn and Ate Vicky happy birthday to you both and many many more..

Yesterday after going to DMV Fallon, We stopped by in Fallon Auto Mall for we just wanted to take a look about their current inventory (used cars and brand new). We parked in front of their office building and a minute or two later we were on our way heading to their car display when hubby saw one of their salesperson standing in front of the door looking at us. So we stopped by and told the guy about our purpose. Since we didn’t talked to any of their salesman before so he asked if he could walk with us. And showed us some of the cars that we like, we even test drive some of it like the Toyota Sienna and Toyota Highlander I believed. So after spending a pretty good amount of time in their lot, we decided to leave now. And were still thinking and deciding which car to go for, at least now we were able to narrow our choices into types of vehicle only. And whats nice about it, its because the salesman is not pushy...

AC

We were on our way to Reno last Saturday doing our usual weekend routine, hubby started the AC and told me to let him know if it gets to cold. Its just getting so hot in here now and dry that being able to used your AC in the car is a luxury I think… But anyway minutes later after using the AC, hubby observed that its getting hot, which its not supposed to be, so he tried turning it on again and again and again… Oppsss..I think now there’s really something wrong with the AC and we better have it fix. For he doesn’t want me driving a car without AC because he doesn’t want our little passenger at the back to get uncomfortable. So tomorrow I’m going to call our local car repair shop to schedule an appointment for me to drop off the car. So this will be something interesting and this is also something to do as soon as possible…

Desserts for Potluck....

Hubby had a potluck at work today, I asked him last night what he wants to bring for today, and he said “salad”. Didn’t really ask him what kind, but for sure he’s going to go to Wal-Mart or Costco to buy it. I told him we have frozen lumpia (egg rolls) which I always have in stock just in case. And I may just have to wake up very early today to fry it. But on the second thought, I also suggested for him to bring dessert, that’s much easier to make and I can make it ahead of time and I don’t have to worry about getting up early in the morning considering that we still have quite a number of sleepless nights… So indeed that’s what happened. I made 2kinds of dessert last night Maja Blanca and Bake Leche Plan. Sounds yummy ha? And I heard it did pretty well on the party…
